Uganda in December 2022

October 3, 2022

Dear Friends,

We are excited to tell you about plans for the return to Uganda in December 2022. You will see an overview on the poster that we presented at the SAMS (Society of Senders and Missionaries) and New Wineskins conference at Ridgecrest in North Carolina September 19-23. As a Missionary Bridger with SAMS I was thrilled to see old friends and meet other missionaries from around the world. We are planning to begin Phase 1 of a new outpatient surgical center in Myanzi, Uganda. Groundbreaking for the Center will be on January 14 with the Bishop of Mityana Diocese presiding.

Apprentices will be working on the project for several months with Patrick while he is on site, and will continue with the oversight of previous apprentices, instruction and supervision by Patrick after he returns to the US. Please look over the details of plans for the facility and the estimate of costs for Phase One of the project. We value your prayerful consideration of assisting us with the expenses of this surgical center as it is a huge undertaking. You can use the “Donate” buttons on this website to make a contribution of support for this project.

This center will provide a much-needed resource for people in the community who may suffer or even die of injuries that could be easily treated if medical services were nearby. The center will also give the diocese an opportunity to evangelize those in the community through the provision of good medical care and healing mercies of anticipated missionary medical staff in the area. Please join us in supporting the apprentices and the community as they come together to build this new facility to the glory of God.

In Jesus,

  Patrick Lutalo

We are deeply honored to receive this special community award and grateful to everyone who has supported the mission of Teach Men to Fish. This recognition is not simply a celebration of one individual, but of the apprentices, volunteers, families, mentors, donors, and community partners who have made this work possible. As Patrick Lutalo shares in his appreciation report, every milestone has been achieved through the dedication of countless people working toward a common purpose. What began as a construction skills training program has grown into something far greater. Apprentices are not only learning valuable trades that provide sustainable careers, but they are also using those skills to transform their own communities. From building a much-needed maternity facility in rural Uganda to constructing a new Community Healthcare Center that will eventually serve more than 500,000 people, these projects demonstrate the lasting impact of investing in people and practical education. Although time during the award ceremony will not allow Patrick to share the full story, we invite you to read his complete appreciation report below. It highlights the journey behind Teach Men to Fish, the remarkable accomplishments of its apprentices, and the vision for creating stronger, healthier communities through education, opportunity, and service. Thank you for being part of this journey. Your encouragement and support continue to empower lives and inspire hope for generations to come.
