Outpatient surgical center 2022-2023 report

In December 2022, we embarked on Phase 1 of a brand new project in Uganda, the Outpatient Surgical Center at Myanzi Church of Uganda in Mityana Diocese. This phase involved the following activities:

  1. Orientation, training and building teamwork prior to commencement. 
  2. Mobilization of resources and likely vendors for the project. 
  3. Engaging with the community leaders and the local building authority. 
  4. Pre-planning for temporary requirements like sources water and lighting. 
  5. And finally, execution of the work itself. 

The month of December in Uganda sometimes has its challenges with the rain. This time around was such a major problem during the excavation process as the machines were just getting stuck in the wet clay soils. However, come January, the sunshine broke through and we were able to do the groundbreaking on January 14th, which was so fantastic for the apprentices to be fully involved in such a big project taking so much of their time.

They were just anxious and excited at every stage of the development of the project to make things come together from just a blueprint to reality. 

 

We are so thankful to God for our vendors and suppliers who throughout the entire course of construction have kept us busy and on schedule to be able to accomplish our main goals of completing Phase One in just less than two months. We are now entering Phase 2 of the superstructure construction. 

 

I would like to acknowledge the entire board of the Teach Men to Fish organization who have worked tirelessly for the success of this 1st phase.

Our sincere appreciation goes out to the young Architect for the project, Mr. Alex Saabwe, and the entire team of the young men and women of Namukozi Integrated Youth Development Group. 

Our special thanks to the entire local church communities in the Diocese who have supported the apprentices with food.

We are deeply honored to receive this special community award and grateful to everyone who has supported the mission of Teach Men to Fish. This recognition is not simply a celebration of one individual, but of the apprentices, volunteers, families, mentors, donors, and community partners who have made this work possible. As Patrick Lutalo shares in his appreciation report, every milestone has been achieved through the dedication of countless people working toward a common purpose. What began as a construction skills training program has grown into something far greater. Apprentices are not only learning valuable trades that provide sustainable careers, but they are also using those skills to transform their own communities. From building a much-needed maternity facility in rural Uganda to constructing a new Community Healthcare Center that will eventually serve more than 500,000 people, these projects demonstrate the lasting impact of investing in people and practical education. Dear brethren, greetings in Jesus 'name thanks to God for the gift of life has donated to us praise him. First and foremost would like to extend my sincere thanks to teach men to fish organisation for the great work has done through Namukozi youth group thank you very much. On my side, would like to thank your valuable support through Mr Lutalo Patrick that has helped me achieve success since I can stand as a woman and work for myself without waiting for hand-outs .I also grateful to everyone there for your assistance in accessing essential resources and materials that are very crucial for my practice. For really am among the new members to join namukozi youth group but through teach men to fish got to understand that also women can do construction and am very proud to be part of construction group through teach men to fish. Your support is invaluable thank you very much. Special thanks to Mr Lutalo Patrick for providing clear technical support whenever you meet us thank you very much. Dear friends, allow me to share my simple project through my small savings under teach men to fish projects which keeps me earning something and cater for my needs in case there is no on- going project.
